What to bring.
With these four documents your registration takes under five minutes and we avoid rescheduling your exam.

Your current card. If your plan changed this year, tell us before you come in.

How to prepare, study by study.
Select your study. If you take diabetes medication, are allergic to contrast or are pregnant, call us before your appointment.
Before
You may eat normally unless your study uses contrast (then fast for 4 hours). Take your usual medications with a little water.
Tell us if
You have a pacemaker, stent, aneurysm clips, cochlear implant, insulin pump, metal fragments, or you are pregnant.
During
The scanner is loud; we provide hearing protection. You must stay still for 20 to 45 minutes. If you are claustrophobic, ask us about the options.
Before
Fast for 4 hours if your study uses IV or oral contrast. Drink water normally unless told otherwise.
Tell us if
You are allergic to iodine or contrast, have kidney problems, take metformin or could be pregnant.
During
The scan takes seconds. We will ask you to hold your breath a few times. With contrast you may feel a brief warmth.
Before
Do not use deodorant, powder, perfume or lotion on your chest or underarms on the day of the exam.
Bring
Your prior mammograms, even if done elsewhere. Comparison is essential.
During
The exam takes about 20 minutes. Compression lasts only seconds per image and is needed for a clear view.
Abdominal
Fast 6 to 8 hours, no food or drink (water is fine for medications).
Pelvic & obstetric
Drink 32 oz of water one hour before and do not empty your bladder — a full bladder improves the image.
Thyroid, breast & Doppler
No preparation required. Wear comfortable two-piece clothing.
Before
No preparation or fasting. You may walk in during business hours.
Clothing
Remove jewelry, coins, belts and clothing with metal snaps from the area being imaged.
Pregnancy
If you are or may be pregnant, tell the technologist before we begin.
EKG
No preparation. Avoid lotions on the chest so the electrodes adhere well.
Echocardiogram
No fasting. Wear two-piece clothing; the study takes 30 to 45 minutes.
Vascular Doppler
For abdominal studies, fast 8 hours. For carotid or extremity studies, no preparation.
